a) Each person licensed pursuant to chapter 138 of the General Laws shall prominently display a sign in each room in which alcoholic beverages are purchased or consumed and in each public restroom on the premises that reads as follows: ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION DURING PREGNANCY IS HARMFUL TO THE FETUS AND CAN CAUSE BIRTH DEFECTS, LOW BIRTH WEIGHT AND FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME, WHICH IS A LEADING CAUSE OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES.

An act further regulating the sale of alcoholic beverages... SECTION 2. Chapter 138 of the General Law is hereby amended 2 by inserting after section 34 the following section:— 3 Section 34A½. A licensee licensed under this chapter except 4 Section 29 shall post on the licensed premises the following 2 signs 5 which shall be at least 11 inches by 14 inches and the lettering shall 6 be at least one-half inch high and in contrasting colors. The first sign 7 must read, "WARNING": Drinking alcoholic beverages such as 8 beer, wine, wine coolers, and distilled spirits or smoking cigarettes 9 during pregnancy can cause birth defects...
