U.S. Regional Town Hall Meetings on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders

The FASD Center for Excellence, in partnership with the FAS Family Resource Institute, the National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and the Alaska Office of FAS, convened Town Hall meetings to learn more about the issues and concerns of individuals with FASD, caregivers and families, professionals, and other interested individuals. At these meetings, a panel of representatives from the Federal Government, the FASD Center for Excellence, and State and regional public agencies received testimony.

The FASD Center has convened 17 Town Hall meetings and received spoken or written testimony from over 700 individuals. A sample slide illustrates one of the key needs identified by Town Hall participants, a single entry door for services. The report "Starting the Conversation: Town Hall Meetings on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders" PDF icon summarizes the meetings. The FASD Center has also prepared a guide to planning Town Hall meetings PDF icon.
